screen question
This is a real question I've had: can the iPad screen respond to the touch of a dog's paw pad?Yes, but make sure his claws are neatly trimmed or he could scratch the screen while using your iPad.
Umm...unless your dog happens to be exceedingly weak, their paw pressure is enough to crack the glass of any LCD that thin. I would not allow this.
Keep it protected inside a case or drawer whenever it is not in use.
I know claws and pressure could be problems, but I wondered if the paw pad would be unreactive, like trying to use a pencil eraser, or if it's enough like a fingertip.
Do human fingernails activate the screen? If they do I would expect a dog's claw to also work.
If you had ever been stepped on by a dog, you know they don't know their own strength or weight. They certainly wouldn't know on a flat surface such as an iPad that it is anything different than a tile floor. The only difference is it is a glass floor only a few mm thick with liquid behind it that if broken into can completely damage the screen. A dog may press as hard as a human punch without meaning to. Especially if the surface is smooth, they may be trying to make sure they don't slip. No, don't try it with a dog. I doubt even insurance would cover that, although I'm sure you could ask your insurance.

Man, I have been trying for years to think of a way to get my dog "billable". If you figure it out, let me know.

Philip ~ A cat's paw pad is reactive; presumably a dog's would be also:

Would you pay for people's broken screen if you are mistaken?
If not, I would not recommend offering advice that would allow cats or dogs to come in contact with the screen.
FWIW, my cat, who weighs slightly more than 4 kilograms, has walked on the monitor of my iPad without any bad results. If she walked on the keyboard, which is after all v. sensitive, and is as flat as the rest of the screen, that would definitely result in text.
