Time Capsule overheat

Hi!

My TC a1470 3 TB is permanent overheated las 4 months. I tried to clean it with service engineer, but overheat issue appears still as usual. Cooler works very loud, but engineer said it's ok.

I heard it is a bug of most TC devices and some people knows a tricks how fix it.

Can you give me advice what to do?

Replace the fan.. if it is loud the fan is running too fast or has worn bearings or full of dust.

If you search ebay you can find fans for them.

Heat has always been a problem with the TC.. we hoped the new version with the fan would fix it.. but dust and the very difficult way it is assembled makes cleaning difficult..

Did you pull the TC apart to clean it the last time..?? If you did that you know your way in.. and it should not be difficult to install a new fan.

The airport utility has a lot of info about temp and fan speed. Open the edit on your TC.. go to the top menu and Diagnostics and Usage as shown.

Here are my numbers which is important for you to have something to compare with.

It is about 18C in the room now so fairly cool.

There is more but I doubt it is of interest .. this is not something I understand the numbers.. but fan speed is clear..

I cannot hear the fan at the current speed of 1750RPM.. but as the speed goes up it gets noisy.

While a noisy fan is not going to do damage.. it indicates something wrong.. which means the sensors could have failed.

I have heard of a few people where the fan goes nuts but the TC is actually quite cool and running ok.

If you have any warranty left or applecare.. or the TC is less than 2 years old so you can still buy applecare on a related product.. computer, ipad or apple TV then apple will replace it for you.

Hello, I have this same problem and would like to run "Diagnostics & Usage" but Airport Utility does not present me with that option.  Instead, it gives me "Apple Analytics" and no way to do diagnostics (so far as I can see).  Do you know if Apple has removed the diagnostics capability from Air Port Utility?
