Apple watch update is not downloading.

I have two iPads, two iPhone 6 and two Apple watches. Watches I have One Gen 0 and one (due to screen separation and Apple replacing it) Gen 1. The iPhone connected to the Gen 0 watch is stuck at "Downloading to watch" this has been for the last 6 hours or so. I have rebooted phone and watch to no avail. This is with Apple Watch 4.0 - Phone updated successfully to IOS 11. Other phone and watch pair updated w/o issues.

 

Comment on the iPhone says to be sure that on the watch Bluetooth and WiFI are turned on. I know about Bluetooth on the watch, but WIFI (?) - not even a clue how to check.

 

Can anyone assist?

Check that your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi (not Mi-Fi) and follow the instructions here, starting by updating your iPhone to the latest version of iOS (begin by making a backup of your iPhone):

 


If you are unable to install the update, then it may help to follow the steps in the second article under the headings "If you need help updating" and/or "If you installed an iOS or watchOS beta or developer seed" as appropriate.
