Recover erased/corrupted pictures

Hi,

I use a 2015 MacBook Pro running macOS Sierra 10.12.4 with approx. 100GB of storage left.

The other day, I was moving over 900 pictures to OneDrive and selected all of them and accidentally clicked on them, causing them all to open in preview. I clicked Command-Q to exit Preview, but upon doing so, the folder carrying the pictures disappeared along with the pictures.

I checked all over my laptop to find them, including in iCloud Drive (which was off at the time), the trash bin, and everywhere in Finder. I've also rebooted my computer in "safe mode" to find them, and ran FirstAid on every part of the laptop but still have not been able to recover the pictures.

I'm wondering if there are any other solutions I can try out to recover these pictures.
