Bluetooth not available after sleep

If a let my Macbook Pro sleep overnight when I open it in the morning the bluetooth is not working. The bluetooth icon shows, "Bluetooth: Not Available", and looking at bluetooth in the system preferences does not show any error messages, just no devices are connecting. If I reboot then it works again. Any ideas about what might be causing it to fail in sleep mode?

This is my problem now, and it's not just after sleep, it's all the time.

Did 10.11.1 take it away??

GREAT news. I found a fix for my problem with bluetooth. I shutdown the system, unplugged the power for a while (I had to take a shower and run an errand, so probably didn't need to be shutdown this long - 1 hour), then when I powered back on the bluetooth was back.

I think this is a method for resetting one of the Mac-specific storage systems (PRAM, SMC, etc) -- here's a link about that:

Unfortunately, the "fix" you described is not a fix at all. No matter how many times I reboot and reset my SMC, the next time my macbook sleeps the Bluetooth Status indicator says "Bluetooth: Not Available." There needs to be a software fix built into El Capitan, not a hardware reset fix that needs to be performed after every sleep cycle.

I had to do this one time on my MBP and I've had at least one sleep cycle per day since I posted my reply 5 days ago.

Sorry your machine isn't working my friend. It's never come back (knock on wood) for me, and my Bluetooth is used daily.

I still have tha same problem...in 10.11.1. After long (overnight) sleep, the bluetooth icon on mac mini 2014, says that bl not available. Have done almost everything subscribed in the NET but still nothing helped me.

I think this problem is caused by SIP. the new bluetooth driver has bug and the SIP prevent system to reboot bluetooth driver. So, this problem can only be solved by restarting system.
