Mouse dissapearing

Hey! Sometimes, the mouse pointer on my Mac disappears. I can see what is it touching (apps, etc...) but the pointer can't be seen. It can be easily fixed, by clicking on the apple logo on the top right of the screen. Why does this happen?

Have you ever has an external display attached? if so, the mouse may have moved to the other display.
