MacBook Air will only start up on battery power

I replaced the trackpad on a 13" MBA 5,2 (2012) 8Gb memory running Yosemite.  The new trackpad works great.  However, now my MBA only starts when I disconnect the magsafe power connector.  The battery was replaced about a month ago and I put an OWC Aura Pro 240 Gb SSD in a year ago without problem.  After starting on battery power I can plug the magsafe back in.  The LED shows green, battery shows full charge and recharges just fine if I unplug the magsafe for a couple hours and plug it back in. If I disconnect and reconnect the battery then plug in the magsafe it boots without touching the power button.  Resetting the SMC requires booting with the magsafe plugged in but the MBA won't turn on at all with magsafe connected, no boot, no power, no nothing till I unplug the magsafe and hit the power button.  Then it starts just fine.  I finally tried an SMC reset by disconnecting the mag safe and the battery and holding down the power button for 10 seconds.  I connected the battery then the magsafe and it booted on its own.  I did a shutdown from the menu (full 60 sec.) then tried to start.  No go till I removed the magsafe then it booted fine from battery.  I guess I could always just boot on battery power then plug into magsafe.  It's just one of those things that bug you.  Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff Jenkins
