How to change you old Apple ID on your iPod?

I had to change my Apple ID since I have not used it in a long while. No matter what I did, I could not get into my old Apple ID account with my new iPod Touch Gen 6. For some reason even though my iTune is set with my new account and in the settings on my iPod also show my new Apple ID, my iPod Touch is wanting me to log into my old account when I try to download from the App Store through my iPod. I could easily just download it in iTunes and add it to my iPod but what if I want to download an App directly to my iPod using WiFi? Can anyone help? Everything on my iPod Touch Gen 6 is up to date. Help!

I figured it out! I went into settings, iTunes & App Store, clicked on the old Apple ID and then logged out. When I did that, my new Apple ID appeared and then I logged into that account. I can now download Apps directly from my iPod Touch. Thanks for your help anyway!

Apps are permanently associated with the ID that was used to obtain them.  The ONLY solution is to delete the offending apps and obtain them again using the correct Apple ID.

I have not downloaded any apps on my iPod yet. All apps are the ones that came with the iPod.
