Easiest is to restore from a Time Machine backup created prior to installing MacKrapper.

Did you use MacKeeper to encrypt any files or folders? If so, be sure to remove the encryption before uninstalling MacKeeper. After that, quit the program and simply drag its icon from your Applications folder (not the Dock) to the Trash.

MacKeeper may ask you to explain why you are deleting it. An answer is not required. Just click the "Uninstall MacKeeper" button, authenticate, and empty the Trash.

Hey John, I have a problem where mackeeper is off my system (or so I think?) however in safari it still keeps popping up all the time? I am not a techie thus absolutely clueless as to how to fix this now... any advice?

That last post was two years old. Best to start a new thread.

John Galt,  I didn't even know I was installing "Mackeeper" till I saw that horrid icon! By that time it was too late!  Ist year newbie for Mac!  I didn't even have an account!  Uninstalling was easy because of that!  Thanks for posting the website.

I followed the instructions to delta MacKeeper, but since I installed it my rendering in FCPX has been extremely slow. It wasn't before. It's uninstalled but could it have done any other damage?

Thanks,

Rob

Yes it may well have already done damage. Uninstall it as per the links given above. If problems persist you may  need to reinstall your OSX.

pour résoudre de probleme MacKeeper

Instal antiverus avast version mac

that wat i did and it work

Hi all, I just did the stupid mistake to install MacKeeper without checking it up as I thought it was Apple telling me I need to clean up my MAC. I did install it, then it did a scan and came back with a report and asked me to CLcik on something to clean up. Then I felt suspicious as I was messaging someone I thought was online (as they said) to ask if this belongs to Apple etc and no actual answers came back. I have deleted the it from my Applications.

But I wanted to check is if it has done anything that I am not aware of to my MAC since it did scan thru or so it says. There was no payment asked or anything else.

Thks so much.

All the above looks horrific. I installed and paid for Mackeeper for some years now, believing it to be an authentic and authorised product. I have not had any "issues" except that now I cannot get a straight answer on billing. I am inclined to delete it ASAP - but the above suggests a frightening amount of process.

So my questions are:

Will dragging the folder from Applications to the Waste Basket, and securely deleting, be the answer?

Is there any need, at all, to run any form of antivirus/anti malware, and if so, what?

Many Thanks

No.

No

Thank you Pete. Given I do not have a back up which goes back to "pre MacKeeper", please can you point me towards the correct way of permanently uninstalling.

Thank you very much.

Regards
