Permanently Delete Joined WiFi Networks?
There are many results for this question all saying basically the same thing. Unfortunately none of them appear to follow through by checking if the process of deleting those joined networks sticks. I have proof that it doesn't. The deleted WiFi networks reappear in the Network Pane after deleting them. I think it's related to iCloud Keychain. I have deleted all of the iCloud Keychains on both of my computers and this made no difference. WiFi networks that I joined years ago in other cities continue to populate the Network Pane. Mysteriously appearing at some point after they've been deleted. It doesn't stick!
I have also wiped my entire system and reinstalled the OS. Makes no difference, these "deleted" networks reappear. I have OCD and need to get rid of these old networks!
Is there a way?
Do they appear under the networks tab for networks you can join or networks you've previously joined? If you have reloaded your entire computer, it does not make sense for them to reappear. Please let us know where they are appearing
Just re read your post, and since it is listing networks from other cities, you might need to delete some files. Back up these files, and then delete the following located in /Library/Preferences/System Configuration/
Com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
Com.apple.network.indentification.plist
NetworkInterfaces.plist
Preferences.plist
If this works, delete the old files. Otherwise, replace the newly created files with the old files and check back in here.
I have done this in the past. Unfortunately, it made no difference. Also, I believe that reinstalling the entire OS recreates those preference files.
However, if the iCloud Keychain still had those networks listed,,,, those preference might be repopulated with the old networks. It could depend on what order all of this is done. Maybe:
1st Delete iCloud Keychain
2nd Remove those preference files
I think this would have to be done on all of your devices that are using the same iCloud ID or it would pull those networks again and repopulate them?

I believe this is a good solution. Make sure you have removed these networks on every device using your Apple ID. Try removing all networks on all devices before recreating these files.
