My music files are now a total mess

I'm so angry right now I am ready to completely delete all of my music files and re-rip every **** CD and LP that we have. Itunes has taken almost 4000 songs and put them in an "unknown" album. I've tried converting my WAV files to iTunes files and it doesn't make a difference, now I TWO or MORE copies of songs that I can't import album artwork to. Do I actually have to buy a third party program to help me fix this mess? I'm sorry that I ever switched from Windows Media Player.

Please someone tell me that my only option is not completely starting over.
