Play counts not updating with iCloud Music Library

Before using iCloud music library, I'd sync my phone via a cable, and keep my iTunes play counts and last played dates synchronized that way. Those are both criteria I use in my smart playlists.

Since subscribing to Apple Music and using ICloud music library, my play counts and last played dates are no longer updated when I play music on my iPhone. Oddly enough, only the first song I play each day has those values updated.

I need this fixed, because I love Apple Music, but it really doesn't work well for me without iCloud Music Library. Help appreciated!

Play count not updating

Thanks, I'll try this but the scenario is different (not synchronizing with a cable, but via iCloud Music Library). Still, worth a shot, as the current state is a real problem for me.

As I suspected, this did not work for me. I suspect that this (play counts) is, like star ratings, something Apple doesn't think most users care about.

I am still having this issue to this day, weirdly enough when I sync via lightning cable it updates one song but not the others, its completely ruining Apple Music for me I may go back to the old fashioned way mentioned earlier in this thread - manually syncing and storing the music on the phone itself.
