I no longer have my old iPhone.  I erased ...

I no longer have my old iPhone.  I erased it then gave it to the people at the apple store.  I restored the new one from a the iTunes backup.  Now I want to connect my old iwatch to it. The instructions tell to me to backup the watch to the old iPhone.  Do I need to to back up the iwatch if I have already restored the old phone from the latest backup?

As you did not unpair your Apple Watch from your old iPhone via the Watch app beforehand, in order to pair your Apple Watch with your new iPhone, you will first need to erase your Apple Watch manually (it cannot now be backed up):

 

  • On your Apple Watch, go to: Home screen (via a single press on the Digital Crown) > Settings (cog icon) > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings.

 

Then pair it to your new iPhone via the standard process, choosing to Restore from Backup, if offered the option:
