My Apple bluetooth keyboard stopped working wit...

I have had my bluetooth keyboard and Macbook Pro for several months - both have traditionally worked together nicely. One day I brought my laptop out and the keyboard would not connect. I tried changing the batteries and re-pairing it to no avail. I did notice on the screen when attempting to re-pair - it would briefly discover the keyboard (after holding the power button for multiple seconds) - however when doing the final confirmation it would lose it again. I also have a bluetooth mouse, so I'm assuming this most likely has someting to do with my keyboard and not the laptop?

Everything is pretty new - just over a year old - so I have a hard time believing that it just gave up the ghost.  Any help would be immensely appreciated.

I have had this problem several times! I finally realized that my iPad was nearby, and the bluetooth was on, AND I had paired the keyboard to it at some time in the past. So Just turn off the bluetooth on the iPad!

Silly mistake on my part...
