Apple Mail

It seems I haven't been receiving emails from an account for some time.  I found that some of those emails were in
Archive rather than the Inbox.  Not sure how this happened or where the rest of the emails are.  How do I make it so incoming mail, from all my email accounts, go into the Inbox rather than Archive or somewhere else?
