Indoor run is inaccurate

I have a series 2 and have been using it to record outdoo runs for 4 months, running 6 times per week on average for between 30-60 minutes. Today I decided to try an indoor run on the treadmill as I figured the watch should be well calibrated by now. I was very disappointed that it recorded my pace at 20 seconds per KM slower than actual and was therefore 1.4KM short on distance at the end of the run. Totally screwed my months stats up and I can find no way to edit the data. Any ideas how I do this or improve the accuracy in the future?

Hi

It may help to reset your calibration data and to recalibrate your Apple Watch, being sure to allow the arm on which you are wearing your Apple Watch to swing naturally both during calibration and during subsequent treadmill-based workouts. Resetting calibration data will not erase historic Activity data.

Thanks, I did as you suggest and it has improved it slightly. It is now only out about 600m over 10k. Still frustrating but the best it will get I guess.

However, in doing this it has messed up how it records my cycling. For example this morning I rode for 45 minutes over 22km with an average heart rate of 141bpm. My watch got the distance correct but said I only burnt 146 calories and had only exercised for 39 minutes. For this kind of ride it should be over 600 active and 800 normal calories.

I've never had an issue with the cycling before so now even more frustrated.

Think I will have to switch to MapMyFitness or Strava.

Thanks anyway.

This answer doesn’t get to the root of the problem - if I run a fixed distance on a treadmill, why can’t I correct the distance my Apple Watch is displaying?  I’ve calibrated my watch several times and I’m regularly getting indoor distances on my watch that are 20-25% off, like being told I ran 2.3 miles when I ran 3 on the treadmill.  This seems like something that should be super obvious
