Apple Music & Philips Illuminate Holiday Li...

This post is regarding Philips Illuminate Holiday Lights.  These lights have an app that allows you to customize the light pattern, etc.  One of the features is that the lights adjust to music played through your device.  My issue is that I subscribe Apple Music and my songs are all coming up as DRM protected.   

The pop up warning reads, "The song is protected by DRM.  It is required that this song is upgraded and converted using iTunes Plus in order for it to play through the Illuminate App."

Am I to understand that I will have to purchase all songs outright to use with the lights?  That seems backwards since I subscribe to Apple Music to avoid having to buy songs.  I hope that makes sense and I really appreciate your response.
