Having difficult time restoring os x Yosemite on my macbook air I need help I have done cmd r Then option but still unable to restore Os x and safari ????? Any easy tips ???? I am not very good with computers

How To Do A Factory Reset

Selection A should be used on computers that came with Lion or later when factory new. Selection B is for Macs that came originally with Snow Leopard or earlier.

A. Factory reset your Mac - Apple Support

B. Factory Reset Your Pre-Lion Mac

Follow these instructions until you get to Step 5: Factory reset your Mac - Apple Support. At Step 5 you will need a Snow Leopard DVD or the installer disc that came with the computer.

1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer. After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities' menu. After Disk Utility loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (un-dented entry - mfgr.'s ID and drive size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the Disk Utility main window.  Set the number of partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended (Journaled), then click on the Apply button.
3. When the formatting has finished quit Disk Utility.  Proceed with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.

I dont have disk loader on my macbook air it very slim and livht weight one

Did it come with software restore DVDs? Or did it have OS X Lion or later pre-installed? Or do you know exactly which model you have?

If you have software restore discs, then you need to use Remote Disc with another Mac in order to perform a system installation. DVD or CD sharing- Using Remote Disc and MacBook Air, Mac mini- How to use Remote Disc to share DVDs or CDs from a Mac or Windows-based computer.

Doesn't help. Can you open About This Mac from the Apple menu? If so, what does it tell you? Then use System Information in the Utilities' folder: To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities' folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right. Let me know what the model identifier is.

When did you buy it (new) - year and month if possible. If you can, find a serial number: How to find the serial number of your Apple hardware product. You can find this stuff on the original box it came in. See if it's etched on the back panel.

Was given to me from my nephew

Did factory reset but now i am unable to restore Os. X on mac book air cant even look up model serial # did internet reset. Nothing

I've outlined the two ways of installing OS X. However. without knowing the model ID I cannot tell you which of the two ways will work. If you want you can try using the Network Restore method, but if the model you have isn't able to use it then you will get an error number.

Install Lion Through Yosemite on a New HDD/SDD

1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the Command-Option-R keys until a globe appears. Wait patiently - 5-15 minutes - until the Utility Menu appears.
2. Select Disk Utility from the Utility Menu and click on the Continue button.
3. After Disk Utility loads select the drive (usually, this is the out-dented entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the side list. Click on the Erase tab in Disk Utility’s main window. A drop-down panel will appear.
4. Set the partition scheme to GUID then click. Set the Format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the OK button and wait for the process to finish. Quit Disk Utility and return to the Utility Menu.
5. Select Install OS X from the Utility Menu and click on the Continue button.

If the Network Restore won't work, then take it to your local Apple retailer and see if they can help you out. Buy an 8GB flash drive and see about getting a copy of the installer on the flash drive for future needs.

this is what i get. When try install os x

It keeps asking for keychain password

i have tried that already and it keeps saying item not available try again later .

Did you follow all the steps outlined about? Did you erase the drive before attempting to install OS X? Were you able to sign into the App Store? Your Keychain password is the same password you use to log into the computer.
