How to recover data from Macbook 2015 logic board

Hi everyone, my Macbook 2015 (A1534) (12 inches) has just died during work and then it cannot be turned on anymore. I tried to do a research to find the solution to recover my data from its SSD. The possible one is to replace the logic board in a working Macbook which is impossible for me. Does anybody has a solution? I did not backup a bit because I have never experience the failure within a year of use. Help me please. Thank you very much in advance.

I'll try, Arthurdoi. it's totally dead, right? I think the warranty on it is about a year if you don't have AppleCare, and now it's too late to mention getting a backup up and running, and using, right? anyways, apart from calling your local Apple Place and taking it in for service, you may wish to remove the SSD and see if you can put it in an external drive case of some kind and connect it to another mac to try to get the data off of it. iFixit has a nice guide on how to remove the SSD from the logic board here

and yes, I suppose you can get an SSD external enclosure for it, but it won't be cheap. I'd say use Drive Rescue 4 or something like that, but you'd have to *maybe* hook up the dead MacBook 2015 with another one via Target mode and see if you can revive it.  Maybe you can, maybe not. I do know that there are professional data recovery services out there, but they are expensive.....

Unfortunately the storage device cannot be removed from that unit, it is part of the main logic board.

No easy solution I am afraid.

So sad for that I expected more MTBF for its system.

Yeah, I'd expect that too. that was what, almost 2 years? and you are both right: I looked 'er up, and yes, the SSD is soldered to the logic board, and to make things worse, they use the dreaded pentalobe and tri-wing screws, so the whole thing is not user-friendly at all. No serviceability that I can see. what's up with that, Apple? what do you do if your SSD goes bye-bye and you don't have a backup done, hmmm? I"m afraid you're out of luck and options. Guess I kinda blew it on this one. It's "take it in and hope all goes well, but you're gonna pay anyways" time for you, sad to say

In hindsight, that's the flaw in your logic. A failure can occur at anytime, on day one, not just after a year. A backup needs to be implemented at the point of purchase. The only people losing data, are the people that had no backup strategy.

Thanks, it is my first single mainboard computer. It is so disappointed so I just bought Surface pro and will do regularly backup hahaha. Murphy's law is always true.

I have the same problem my MacBook 2015 12inch just quit and won't power on. I am disappointed. I purchased a used one. Does anyone know if apple can help with recovering files?

Same problem here. Bought in Aug 15, died a month ago. How possible?

Forgot to say that not only you lose data if no backup but the cost of a new logic board is 555EUR + VAT (~40% of the price of a new macbook). Doesn't make any sense.

If you have another Mac or access to another Mac, you can purchase or use a Thunderbolt cable to start up in Target Disk Mode by holding down the T key until the Good (for lack of a better word at present) Mac starts up. Your Macbook should show up as an external drive, which will enable you to copy your files to the Good Mac or an external hard drive.

12" MacBooks are not Thunderbolt capable, so recommending the purchase of a Thunderbolt cable is ill advised.
