There are no contacts in my cloud for iphone

I am trying to export contacts from cloud into a data file for a mailing list. I went to the cloud and there was a list of contacts but there were older. I clicked on iphone contacts and there were none.

I checked my iphone to make sure it was connected to same apple ID, made sure it said contacts were backed up and clicked back up now. Still no current contacts in the contact list present and nothing in the iphone contacts list. It states that iphone contacts was backed up 8/28.

Where are my contacts? I need them from my iphone to my cloud.

Try going to www.icloud.com > Settings > Advanced > Restore Contacts.

When you go to iCloud.com you are not looking at the contents of your backup. You’re looking at what’s being synced to iCloud.

Settings > iCloud > under Apps Using iCloud > confirm that Contacts is switched ON.
