Silent (just a tap) for messages, telephone cal...

I am wanting to set my Apple Watch up, so that I just get a tap when I receive a text, phone call, app notification alerts, but I would like the Apple Watch to still sound when I set an alarm, whether I am wearing the watch or its on charge. Is this possible?

Thanks

Yes it is. If the watch is set to silent, you will get vibration only for the things you listed. If you wish the alarm to sound, you just need to make sure that you have a sound selected for the alarm. The only other question would be are you setting the alarm on the watch or the phone?

See this section of the Apple Watch User Guide. https://help.apple.com/watch/

Thanks Chris.

I probably would be setting the alarm more or less 50/50 between the Apple Watch and my iPhone.

With the iOS 10 update and watchOS 3, they have added the ability to silence the alarm on the phone. It used to be if you set an alarm on the phone and had the watch on silent, it would still ring on the phone. However, if you attempted to select no sound on the phone, when selecting the sound, since it would still ring even with the phone on Mute, then the alarm would never sound on anything, phone or watch. Now, if you set an alarm on the phone and set None as the sound, it will only sound on the watch. If you have the watch set to silent, it will only vibrate then. I've not tested it the other way around on the watch, but I believe if the watch is set to silent, it will not ring.

Yes, I just tested it, and if you set an alarm on the watch and the watch is set to silent, it will not sound, just vibrate.

Thanks very much Chris, you have been very helpful. Appreciate the help

You're welcome.

Is there anyway to set an alarm so that it just happens without a sound? Been going through the settings and I can’t seem to find it.

Meaning tap only?
