Can you use a USB
I am looking to upgrade from a USB HDD to a USB-C SSD for better speed and reliability when editing videos (in Final Cut Pro).
I know that Thunderbolt 2 has a maximum transfer speed of 10GB/s, and I know that USB 3.1 (type-C) has a maximum transfer speed of 10GB/s...
So (1.) can you plug a new SSD USB-C hard drive into an old Thunderbolt 2 port in order to make use of the better speed? E.g.; Samsung T5 with MacBook Pro Retina, circa 2013. Or (2.) are we restricted to using USB 3.0 connections only? If so, (3.) are there any other options for fast and secure external hard drives?
Thanks
