imap connection lost with iCloud mail

I get the following message from mail in Mac OS Sierra (10.12.6): Connections to the server “p03-imap.mail.me.com” on the default ports timed out. This is an intermittent problem that just started a few days ago. My iPhone still receives email even when the imap connection on my MacBook Pro is down. Also, an iMac with Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6 and on the same network doesn't have this problem. Also, my yahoo.com and gmail accounts don't have this problem with their respective imap servers.

The console gives the following errors when imap is down:

     Connecting failed for socket: <0x6000006b9da0 p03-imap.mail.me.com:993>, error: Error Domain=NSOSStatusErrorDomain Code=-9806 "errSSLClosedAbort: connection closed via error " UserInfo={_kCFStreamErrorCodeKey=-9806, _kCFStreamErrorDomainKey=3}

and

     Connecting failed for socket: <0x6000010a0f00 p03-imap.mail.me.com:585>, error: Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=60 "Operation timed out"

I've checked Apple - Support - System Status and all servers are up and running even when I can't connect via imap.

I've noticed this problem in other discussions, but I have not found a solution. Does anybody have any ideas on what is going on with my account?
