How can I hide/remove the Artwork column in Hom...

I just upgraded to El Capitan and with it comes iTunes 12.  As I loaded a few videos into my iTunes Library I see that the List View for Home Videos includes a column for "Artwork" which does not appear to have a way to remove it (i.e., it is not listed in the list of items for column view customization).  There also is no option to "Hide Artwork" under the View menubar item.  I don't want to see this "artwork" (esp. since it's some random frame from the video, which conveys zero information!!)

Having this artwork (even at the "small" setting) really expands the space my rather large list of videos needs.  I'd like to turn it off.  But how ??!??

I do not see any category in iTunes' menu called "Video".  I believe these are all the categories:

Further, if "home video" means something like an iPhone- or iPad-produced video, wouldn't you manipulate it in the Photos app?

I mean .mp4 files. 

(BTW, while iTunes does not refer to these as "videos" the name of the iOS app used to play them from iTunes, using Home Sharing, is indeed "Videos" -- so much for the confusion/consistency!!)

No, not Photos for manipulation - they are in iTunes for viewing.  I stream these to the AppleTV and/or iPad, using Home Sharing.

However, I do not use home sharing, so I have not seen the artwork as you show it.  I do have an Apple TV, and somehow manage to get what I want to see over there (including videos from my Mac; however, these videos are not stored in iTunes) without using home sharing.  I get videos to my Apple TV from my Mac by simply using AirPlay.

Personally, I can't even imagine why someone would not want to see the visual cues that artwork provides, but I'm sure you have your reasons.

Unfortunately, there is currently no way to eliminate the artwork / key frame column.

We also use Airplay (sometimes) but since the computers are at one end of the house and the TVs in another it's not a convenient way to start/stop watching shows -- esp.  when there are a lot of shows to scroll through (on the ATV) to select which to watch.

Hmmm, why would I need the "cues" in the iTunes LIBRARY, where I'm only adding and organizing them there.  It's not like this is the interface where I'm scrolling through to find something to watch -- I do that on the ATV where, yes, I'll admit that visual cues can be helpful (tho' the name is generally descriptive enough).

But here's the really odd thing.  I also have the latest iTunes 12.4 on my MacBook, which is running Mavericks.  And it does NOT have a column for the Artwork.  So it was a surprise to find that the same iTunes has such a different look under the newer OS.  Here's how iTunes appears on Mavericks, for the same assortment of options (which is what I'm used to and therefore prefer):

While I have not found the "proper" way to do this, you do have the option of changing the media type (get-info) to "Movie" in which case you can hide the artwork column.  Of course, you now would have your home videos mixed in with your purchased movies.  Its an imperfect workaround.

I have been looking for an answer to this for a long time.

I too run the home sharing and do not want the artwork to show in the home video section of itunes.

By selecting my entire video library and changing the media type to Movie - this fixed the issue of not being able to remove the Artwork column in Home Videos.

I want to get rid of the Artwork menu because if I choose to view files in a List format, I want all the names to be as close together as possible, and that is for efficiency sake (something iTunes lacks).

If I wanted to see the Artwork, I would view in the Grid format, which is the purpose of that format, to look at a picture and not necessarily the text of the file. Simple enough, right?

Hi. Did you ever figure it out? I don't have the home videos artwork shown on list view on my Mac (Sierra) but my wife can't get rid of the home videos artwork in list view on her MacBook Pro (El Capitan).

I have this question as well. On my iMac the "artwork" column is not showing, so the titles are closer together and it's a much better/streamlined view of all the videos.  However the layout on my PowerMac is exactly what your diagram shows... the Artwork column is to the left, which is not my preferred view.  It takes up too much space on the page and makes it difficult to view the video titles.  Why would it show differently on my laptop than it does on my desktop, when it appears that I have all the same configurations checked and the same software upgrades?

If anyone can answer HOW to change this view, please assist.  Thanks!
