iTunes stops playing if display is asleep.

In earlier versions of Mac OS X and iTunes, if I was listening to music, but not actively using my Mac, the display could sleep according to the settings in the Energy Saver panel no problem. The display would blank into low power mode and the music would continue to play.

Since updating to High Sierra, if the display is asleep, iTunes will stop after the current song finishes. I have to wake up the screen and start the music again. I have had to set the displays to never sleep to avoid this problem, which kind of defeats the purpose of having Energy Saver.

If someone knows a way to let the displays sleep, but iTunes to continue playing music, I would a workaround. Thanks.

I was experiencing this same issue after upgrading to High Sierra (10.13).

This seems to have fixed the problem: Under Energy Saver I have deselected "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off". I have been listening continuously to my music for over an hour now with the display off (only just now logged back in to reply to this question).

I'm not sure what other impact this is having by deselecting that option, but I'm good for now.
