Bluetooth Scanner Pin Required

Hi all, I've got a new issue that has surfaced recently.

So I've got a bluetooth barcode scanner that I use to keep track of some of my inventory.

I have been using it extensively on both my macbook pro (early 2015) and iMac (late 2015). Both are running OSX Sierra 10.12.6. Both using the same bluetooth firmware 5.0.5f1.

Here's the thing, the scanner pairs seamlessly with my macbook, but for the iMac, it asks me to enter a randomly generated 6 digit pin code. Being a bluetooth scanner and not a keyboard however, I cannot enter the pin code and press enter. Is there a setting that can disable this pin requirement? It has only started happening 2 weeks ago, before that it has been fine (no software updates between that time).

A few things I have tried:

Restarting the iMac

Unpairing all bluetooth devices and repairing them

used other bluetooth scanners (same thing happens, I have 3 in total, all pairs seamlessly on the macbook)

pair the scanner to iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch to make sure it isn't the scanner fault, no problems

Pair to other mac devices (Mac mini, Macbook pros)

One thing I can't do is to generate a barcode to scan the pin number and simulate a keypress, because when scanning, it takes the scanner out of pairing mode.

If anyone has any solutions, it would really help!
