Updating a macbook pro

How do i update my mac book pro?

What version of OS X are you running?

Update it how? Software or hardware? If you mean RAM or hard drive, you need to specify what model you have.

I don't know.   How do I find out?

I try to log unto Chase.com.   The bank site tells me that my  Safari browser is not updated.   When I try to update Safari, it tells me that my OS is not updated.   Now How do I do all these updates?
