Why does iTunes display a blank white screen wh...

I just purchased an iPhone 8, downloaded the latest iOS update, and I have plugged my phone into my computer. iTunes automatically starts, it quickly displays my music library and without warning a blank white screen that says iPhone. I backed up my iPhone 6 and now i want to restore to my iPhone 8.  But i don't even have that option. SO I manually downloaded all of my apps, but now i can't add my music to my phone. I have no option to go back to my library.
