Monitor Challenge on Mac Pro4,1

I have a MacPro 4,1 with two monitors (mac and sony) hooked up. When I use them together all is well. They work side by side or mirror mode no problem. However when I unplug either of them then the other won't work. I cannot use either monitor alone. It goes black when they are alone.

I tried unplugging everything including power (waiting a while before plugging in), resetting SMC and PMC and still no luck.

Any suggestions?
