Issues with Excel on my mac

Hello Everybody!

I am trying to learn Excel on my Mac (required for school). The issue I am experiencing is this: I have to highlight two separate columns that are not next to each other.  Anyway to do that?

Click in the column heading of one column. Hold down the command key and click in the column heading of the second column.
