With the introduction of iTunes 12.7 and the removal of the iOS app store, how do I maintain older versions of apps?

There are some apps that I do not update as the updated versions are simply inferior. Should I have to restore my iPhone down the line, how will I restore these apps if it simply re-downloads the latest version from the store rather than restoring the backups?

If you have not deleted the apps, the iTunes/iTunes Media/Mobile Applications folder

is still there with your apps and you will still be able to drag and drop them to your device.

Since you want to continue to use the older apps and for safe keeping,

you may want to make a back up copy of those .ipa files to a USB stick

or some other storage.

So how does that work going forward? If I can't back up a current app from my iPhone to be restored at a later date, then I no longer have the option to roll back to a previous app if the update is terrible.
