how long should it take to install apps

How long should it take to install apps on the iPhone from the app store?

I recently bought the new iPhone 8. It is my first iPhone, so I don't know what to expect. Sometimes I can install an app from the app store immediately. Other times I try to install it and the circle spins for a long time until it gives up and I try again, and again. Is this normal? I have tried rebooting the phone several times. Is the store slow because new phones just came out and everyone is installing stuff?

well it depends, how big the app is, if it’s under 100 megabytes then it should only take about 30secs-1min but if it’s about 500 megabytes it would be like 1-2 minutes anything more could be anything from 5 minutes  to twenty, so check before you download

The problem seems more like that it won't even start to download or install.  It just spins waiting and never begins installation.
