Outlook 365 for Mac to Apple Mail/iCalendar com...

I have a MacBook Pro and am running Outlook 365. It is not synching with my iPhone so I want to migrate to Apple Mail and iCalendar. I want my computer to house emails coming from multiple Gmail accounts - and Apple support info is mainly wrong.  I want my computer to be where my own emails are owned (Gmail copy disappears) and am not worried about emails being available on all devices.

In the past, I have used the Gmail POP feature (rather than IMAP) but the instructions from Apple are bogus.

Any thoughts?

Craig

In what way are they bogus? You have to ensure you have gmail accounts are set up as a POP accounts and that you are entering the correct information in your MAIL client.

The screens they show do not appear on my computer (I provided this feedback).  POP is set up - I am looking to convert my IMAP to POP and none of the instructions make sense on the Apple Support site.  One of the others the images would not display and several other community members indicated the instructions do not work.

I specifically searched for an OS Sierra solution - and those instructions were not viable either.

No way to change the stuff on my computer (that I can see) to POP - I am not given that option.  I tried to delete the entire account and, since Outlook is also resident, I would have to delete the entire account and start again.  Reluctant to do that if there is another solution.

Sounds like you have not configured your gmail accounts as POP or you have not entered the correct server/credential/security info in MAIL. You have not provided any info regarding where you see bogus instructions and I am not going to spend time looking for them. Follow these instructions (Read Gmail messages on other email clients using POP - Gmail Help) then ensure you enter the correct information in MAIL.

Here is the link:Automatically manage connection settings in Mail on your Mac - Apple Support

I am set up properly (thanks for the link - I used that info to make sure things were set up properly).  I do not see the images that the link says I should.

Post a screenshot of what you get instead.

With a google account, on that pane, there is nothing to change, because google has decided what it will accept, and Apple understands and follows their guidelines. There simply are no options except mail-sending account, so none are presented.

What about the other panes?

I get that - but the Apple Support page is wildly different - hence my expectations for something different (and the commentary that Apple's instructions are useless).

It appears that you still have your Gmail account set up as IMAP.

Well, Gmail is set up to do either/both - POP and IMAP are both enabled.  Apple Mail defaults to IMAP - and I want to change it to POP (so the emails disappear from Gmail and my MacBook is the single version of the truth).

As I said already, set up gmail as POP using the instructions I linked to above.

It is actually set up for both - using POP on my old laptop and IMAP on iPhone. I do not think Gmail is the issue here - per their info I am set up properly.

Gmail is already configured for both - so your answer, while appreciated, is not helpful.
