Connecting the audio from my laptop to a projector

I have a laptop I use for school presentations, I also have a DVD player, I'm trying to get the audio to run through my projector so that I don't have to plug and unplug my external speakers every time I change instruments. 

I'm connected to my projector using the little white dongle deal (there's a better name for this I'm sure), the image is perfect, the sound only seems to come from my little lap top speaker (unless I connect external speakers to my laptop directly).

Any ideas?
