Scroll wheel jumpy

I have a generic wireless mouse. And for normal use, it's fine. bu when I need to use the scroll wheel, it jumps all over the place. (The cursor stays put but whatever I'm trying to scroll jumps around constantly.) What makes it worse is that on Windows, It is completely fine. Any suggestions?
