apple watch power issue

So in the big move I had missed placed my watch and finally found it after about a month. Was super happy to find it. While trying to charge it my apple watch series 1 keeps trying to power on and charge but it keeps coming up to the red apple and I tried to reset the watch and it sent me here to ask questions. surprisingly many say it might be my charger but seeing as I have no other charger than the one I was given when I bought the watch second hand, sorry new to apple, I'm not going to buy the latest and greatest happy with the simple. Has anyone solved this because I'm not really wanting to buy an expensive replacement cord that worked the last time I used it.
