clipped audio after importing

Hello,

i recorded audio from an iPad (Model15 app) to QuickTime Player on a Macbook (i had nothing else available).

Now, when importing the m4a file to Logic X, it creates a 5.1 track and the audiofile inside the project appears heavily clipped, which is visible in the wave image. Interestingly in Logic's browser the waves do NOT look clipped. It's only on the timeline. (It also sounds clipped)

When listening to the original file in any player, theres no clipping either.

I tried converting the file outside Logic to a .wav file. When importing that one. the file was still distorted, though not as much as before.

Anyone else had that issue?
