Hi I can not for the life of me figure out how to use the credit on my Apple acct. it states I have $28 credit but asks for my credit info and charges the credit card instead of using my Apple credit. What type of purchase are you attempting to make? For example, Apple credit cannot be used to purchase gifts.
Also, is your credit in the country you are currently residing in? Apple credit does not move to any country other than the one in which it was issued.

I'm having the same problem. I have movie rental credits, but when I browse the movies, they all have prices next to them and don't give me the option to use my credits.
Yes, they all have prices. You will not see the result of using your credits until you actually rent the movies.
Besides, if you did not see the prices, how would you know how much to expect to be debited, whether from a credit card or your existing credits? Of course the prices must be shown.
That's like saying "I have a [name the store] gift card. Yet, when I go into that store, I still see prices!"
I buy a ibook and although the page I select the book from says 6 credits it never applies them to any pur
I have a $5.29 credit, but when I bought an app as a gift, my credit card was charged for $4.99
Your card will have been charged, you can't use an account's balance for gifting.
Where are any answers?? so frustrated.

The answer is in the Apple Recommended response above dated Nov. 17, 2016.
I Have a credit from the E book settlement. I have logged into my account and looked at all the account info. I can't even see what the settlement amount is, let alone use it.
ITs very frustrating trying to use a settlement amount and being unable to find out the the simplest of information. So sad Apple seems to have gone the other internet servers route and become very non-transparent or user friendly.
You very likely have to take steps to apply the settlement credit to your iTunes account.
Read the document that informed you of the settlement carefully and completely to discover what you need to do.
That answer isn't helpful and doesn't apply to our situations... we have credits in our accounts and the credits are not accessible when we try to purchase something. I'm not in a different country and I'm not trying to buy a gift. Trying in e-books and in itunes to access my $15 credit and cannot in any way access it. This forum is completely useless.
The poster that sberman was responding to was talking about a settlement, so the answer provided was correct. They did not ask about a credit.
Where is this "credit" you are referring to? Are you saying that you have a credit balance in your iTunes & App Store account? When you open your iBooks app and click on Featured and scroll to the bottom of the page, are you seeing a Credit balance below your Apple ID?
And when you say you are "trying to access" your credit, what do you mean?
Instead of being snarky to a fellow user who is volunteering his time to try to help, maybe you could specifically state what issue you are actually running into. What, exactly, are you trying to do, and what is happening when you try to do it?

I'm not being snarky at all. Over 200 people on this thread having the same problem are all talking about either a settlement credit or a regular credit - neither of which you can seem to use as a payment method. One of the users he responded to was asking about a settlement amount, others were talking about credits, too. And his information is not helpful - that's not being snarky, it's being factual. It's a settlement amount but it's called a credit and it's treated as a credit.
The problem lies with Apple's checkout method. The settlement that other user was talking about is the same settlement amount I have as well. It's a credit and there's absolutely nothing we have to do to get the credit - it's tied to our account and automatically there (per Apple's legal notice they sent us). Unfortunately, the settlement email only states "to view this credit, you simply log into your Apple account" and that if we have further questions or need assistance, contact Apple customer service (which unfortunately takes us here to this forum).
The problem is that even though there's a credit showing on the account, when trying to make a purchase, it asks for your credit card information and moves forward as if it's going to charge our credit card. I finally went further into my purchase and entered my credit card security code as requested (no idea why they need that if there's a credit in my account). There was no option to pay with the credit or a credit card - just a request for credit card info, so it's extremely unclear. There's also zero notification that the credit has been used until after the purchase when you can view your credit and see that the amount has been reduced.
It's not user-friendly, that's all. SBerman's answer didn't help and when someone asked what the answer was, he pointed to his own answer from last year that was the recommended Apple answer, but didn't really answer anything - just said that you can't use it in a different country or use it as a gift - we're not doing either of those things.
So please don't start arguing with me about me being snarky when I'm only one of over 200 people having this same exact confusion. Apple is not being helpful here. You're not helping anything, either, by the way.
You are snarky, and as I stated, this is a user to user technical support forum. Everyone here is a volunteer, and being uncivil just because you are frustrated is not the way to get help from people. And where do you get 200 people? This is a one page thread.
Also, your post was presumptive and misleading. The fact is that the credit was deducted from first, as it always is when you have a credit on your account. So, when people report a problem incorrectly, it makes it next to impossible to accurately troubleshoot. You specifically stated that the credit was not accessible, when, in fact, the issue was that you had a credit but it was still asking for credit card verification. Had you reported what was really happening instead of your assumptions, then you would have gotten an answer that addressed your concern. And that is: If you have a payment method on your account (not NONE), and you also have a credit, and the payment method needs verification, that will not prevent the credit from being used first. You would have been reassured that you could go ahead with the verification, and that the purchase would process as you expected, and be taken from the credit on the account first.
So, before you go saying things like "this forum is completely useless", consider that it can only be useful if the poster clearly describes the issue without making assumptions about what will or will not happen. Since you did not state what the actual issue was, but rather specifically stated that your credit could not be used, then the answer you get is going to be geared toward that statement. We are not magicians or mind readers. We can't see your device, we can't see what you are seeing. If you mis-report the problem, then don't attack the people who are doing their best to help with the information you have provided.
