Split over and split view not working

Using split view and slide over after upgrading to ios 11 By using the dock. However, I read somewhere that it can be done on the home screen and tried it. It didn’t work and when I went to start it thru the dock, it won’t work either.

Try a hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons?

Then, maybe look at all of this to help you learn and navigate the new iOS 11.
