safari 11 upgrade failed

My Sierra 10.12.6 attempted to upgrade safari last week and it corrupted it.  When I try to run the browser it instantly crashes with the error below. To make matter worse, the App Store says I am running v11  but as you can see the Safari browser is crashing on version 10.1.1 (12603.2.4).

This was all done automatically by my new 3 month old 5K retina iMac automatically. Not very impressive to upgrade itself without warning, or permission, disable itself and now I have to fix it.

I have rebooted repeatedly, cleared cashes, etc... and no hope... So I either need advice on how to recover from this, or some assurance that if I just upgrade to High Sierra on Monday, it will be fixed with this upgrade...
