iTunes music purchases not syncing to device

I've purchased several songs from iTunes this week - they all downloaded and were paid for via my online iTunes card on file....I can see all the items purchased in my music library - however, none of these recent purchases will not sync to my iPod device that is operating on the most recent Nano software version.  Looking for some assistance to understand on how to correct.  I have not executed the total reset to factory as I was nervous this would damage my entire library of over 2,000 songs.

 

My library sits on a PC platform, Microsoft Windows 10



Are the items downloaded to the library or do they show with a cloud symbol?

Do they play in iTunes?

Is there an error message when you try to sync, if so what does it say?
