How do we reset the play count in iTunes 12.6

Once again, this has disappeared.  The new 12.6 does't show "reset play count" when right-clicking on a highlighted item.  How do we do this now?

Right-click the song and choose "Get Info".  Find the Play Count shown toward the bottom of the "Details" tab.  Click "Reset" on that row.

It's a workarround but not a good solution. You have to do this for every single song. Using the context-menu it was possible to reset the play count for multiple files at once. Please bring back the context menu option or display the Reset button, when displaying info for multiple files, at least.

The AppleScript posted by turingtest2 in Re: How to reset play count in iTunes 12.4? still works in 12.6 to reset multiple songs at one time.

So what used to take me 30 seconds every day is now going to take me an hour every day? Thanks a whole lot, Apple, for ruining my life with such an unnecessary change. You can make it all better by making it work for multiple tracks...

Agreed. I have a smart playlist called "not played" because Apple's shuffle plays about 20 songs to death (over 10 plays) another hundred or so get one or 2 plays and the rest of my collection (300 or so tracks) remains unplayed. So the "not played" ensures I get to hear all of my collection over time. Now I can't reset it back when everything has been played. Removing "reset plays" was a really pointless change that can have no benefit and cause plenty of annoyances.

Go to https://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html & leave feedback. I & many others did after reset plays was removed in iTunes 12.4 & it was returned. Now I've left feedback again in 12.6.

If you make multiple selections and right click to "Get Info" the Play Count does not show up! There is no reset here with multiple selections.

I have over 6000 song and need to reset them all back to zero for my play list.  I wan

t to ensure that I would here every song at least once during a period of time.   Using random play, it seems to play the same songs over and over.  If Apple want to take away simple functions like resetting play count for multi songs in iTunes, than it may be time to seek other option than Apple.

Rather than reset the play count, you could consider a smart playlist that referenced to date played.

Yes, boss, I know and have already done so more than once.

To overcome the problem, I created a small PowerShell script, that works with the Windows version of iTunes. Check out https://github.com/rokory/itunes

It also contains a more sophisticated script to export playlists to M3U lists, while converting the tracks to MP3 at the same time and detecting duplicates to speed up performance.

I just submitted that but had to select 12.5.5.  No 12.6 versions available.  I did mention 12.6.0.100 in two places.
