Music got deleted

I had Apple Music for some time now,  I recently decided not to renew my subscription. I thought that the songs that I downloaded in the time frame I was paying for Apple Music wouldn't get deleted from my library since I technically did pay for them but they did. I'm just really annoyed that this happened because I'm sure this appeared in the fine print but I think it should be a major key when someone is thinking of purchasing Apple Music
