So does sound check work with apple music?

In search of the ever elusive solution to level songs.  Been using music for about a month and it's mostly great, except still getting some songs that are louder than others.  I turn on sound check but it doesn't seem to write the volume tags except that some of the apple music songs actually have a tag already in place. 

So anyone have the definitive answer to this or being able to level songs?
