Apple Configurator 2 and iTunes App Store

We have 72 iPads spread out over three carts for an elementary school.  I am getting ready to prepare them and get some new apps requested by some staff.  I just learned I cannot download IOS apps through iTunes anymore.  How am I supposed to get IOS apps so I can deploy them with Apple Configurator 2???  What am I missing?
