Logic 10.2.2 touch automation Mackie Control

Is anyone having success with a hardware controller running Mackie Control and automation in Logic Pro 10.2.2?

Since updating, writing automation in touch mode is behaving erratically.  Touch mode works fine with the mouse and with Logic remote apps, but not with my hardware faders.  It is especially glitchy when writing slow moves.

I tried Logic 9 on the same computer and the automation worked.

I have experienced a similar behaviour since the 10.2.2 update when using my PreSonus FaderPort. Touch mode behaves as if it was latch mode.

Logic Pro X 10.2.2, OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

Strangely, I have discovered that the automation works fine unless there is a UAD Precision Limiter in the session.  With no UAD Limiter on the session, everything works fine.  As soon as I add the Limiter, writing automation becomes unreliable with a control surface.  Removing the Limiter fixes the issue.

I am currently back a UAD version, but am downloading the update.

I don't have a UAD limiter or any UAD plugin in my plugin chain.

UAD update made no difference.  I have actually been able to reproduce this with only built in Logic plugins.  It seems to start happening when a plugin is on a bus that the track is sending or outputting to.

I have rebuilt defaults, removed and reinstalled control surfaces in Logic, and even did a fresh install of Logic.

Similar problems here after update to 10.2.2. I don't have UAD products installed.

Conversely latch behaves like touch at times. And some random automation glitches (steep curves) are recorded.

This is with Mackie Control Universal.

Same issue here as well.  hope this gets fixed asap!

I haven't had a chance yet to test this version out yet.

What do you have your Mackie Control set to? In other words "MCU/HUI/Logic" modes.

What solved a lot of issues for me was to:

-Press the "select" buttons of track 1+2 down while the control is off and then flip the switch to turn it on while the buttons are depressed. You will see a message on the Mackie led come up. The left will be MCU mode. The middle will be HUI. The right will be Logic mode.

-Depress the two pan buttons under the Logic selection.

The Mackie will now be in Logic Pro mode. Boot up Logic 10.2.2 and see if that helps.

I have reverted back to 10.2.1 and everything is working again with that version.

Marcelo do you have your Mackie set to "Logic mode" or the default "MCU" mode. Curious. Glad it works again for you.

I am in Macke Control mode.  I also have trie a PreSonus Faderport which runs in HUI mode and gotten the same behavior from automation.

I have been running Logic since 3.x and using this controller since Logic Platinum 5.x

For now I am back in 10.2.1 so I haven't tried Logic mode with 10.2.2

Have you tried 10.2.2 yet?  If so, did Logic mode work correctly?

I'm having this very same problem in 10.2.2 right up to the current update. I'm using a Focusrite Control 2802 that works on the Mackie HUI protocol. It's fine when there are no plugins on the session, but when I come to automating and there are plugins the automation on the control surface is unusable. Really really disappointing. It makes my desk pointless, and I can't believe it's not been fixed in the latest update. If anyone has a workaround, or even a fix, I'd love to hear it!

+1

..and now e're in 10.3! Incredible, that this doesn't get prioritised to be fixed. PLEASE!

I know this is not the ideal reply, however, For all the good that controllers do, controlling parameters etc, when eveyhthing is working,  this is cancelled out with all the hassle caused when something is updated.

I had a Mackie Universal Pro for a few weeks, l returned it.

Life is so much easier without out it,  so I cant have hands on control and on 2 parameters at once, so what? I would rather have stabilty and use the magic mouse 2 and Magic Track Pad2 , the magic keyboard also had allbthe transport functions too!  And its remote.

If everything is working 100% fine with your controller and Logic, thats great!

But the amount of reports about Mackie Universal Pros , Faderports,  Xtouches etc

All having problems and ysually update related, is it really worth the time and hassle?

Keeping it simple with less to go wrong is priceless to workflow, for me life without a controller has been more beneficial by far.

Has everyone been sending this in reports of thiese issues or just posting it here. When I get home I will try to reproduce this and report it tonight.

If you haven't please do so.
