imac does not restart

Trying to start up a 2012 iMac 24" but keep getting the flashing ? symbol. Have tried the O+Cmmd+R, Shift+O+Cmmd+R, and Cmmd+R, holding down keys after the chime. It's been about 10 minutes still with the flashing ? and still can't get logo or ANYTHING! Help! This was a hand me down. Suggestions? Take to repair person? Thanks for your help.

That indicates the computer cannot locate the startup volume. I suspect it's a Fusion drive iMac and the HD has crashed.  You can attempt to start in the Recovery Partition (Command + R) and run First Aide on the HD however I think it would be much wiser to take it in for service at your local Apple store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.
