transferring images from camcorder to iPad

Purchased your camcorder connecter firewire to be able to transfer/edit and store video images from a

Sony camcorder (HDR-XR260V) Succeeded in connecting the two devices; No videos

show up; only still shots from the camcorder in DCIM files.

If this new connecter firewire doesn't allow me to edit video, I do not need it. will return to Apple store.
