Text replacement sometimes not working with 200...

I have slightly over 200 (but under 256) text replacement shortcuts. Some of these are to save time, while others are to type characters that are not easily able to type. (I am very familiar with the option key, so I don't need shortcuts for ™, ¢, å, etc.) For example, :ma is changed to Massachusetts. I have this for all 50 states and most of the Canadian provinces. I also have shortcuts for superscript and subscript numerals, 1//2 → ½ (and other fractions), ability to type some Greek letters using shortcuts, ot → of the, -> changing into the arrow I have used twice earlier in this sentence, shortcuts for my home and school email, and several more.

However, not all of them work. 3//4 → ¾ does not work, and &t → "and the" does not work. It seems like any shortcut beginning with : or ; works just fine, but as the number of total shortcuts increases above 210 or so, some of the ones beginning with a letter or number stop working, and they sometimes start working once I delete others. However, it seems like repeatedly creating and deleting shortcuts to see what works and what doesn't will slowly decrease the number that I can have without any not working. Recently, 4t → "for the" stopped working after I tried to add sep, oct, nov, and dec expanding to the month names, and 4t → "for the" didn't come back after deleting those four.

Notes:

1. The number of shortcuts I could have seems to have increased slightly when I switched from Mac OS 10.11 to 10.12 a few months ago. The non-working ones didn't start working after upgrading from an earlier 10.12 to current 10.12.6 today, but it seems like I can add a few more without losing any others. I did a manual restart after upgrading.

2. I do not have my computer linked to any other devices.

3. This is a MacBook Pro originally from September 2016.

4. This is not a problem with applications. Every shortcut works in either every application that allows it or none at all.

5. I have spellcheck and autocomplete off, since spellcheck and autocomplete do not follow fixed rules.

It sounds like something Apple would have to fix.  You can tell them about the problem via

Perhaps your particular needs would be better met with a 3rd party app like Text Expander.
