How do I fix this by myself?

It still charges the laptop but I just want to put it back together. It is a little stuck.

Unplug the power cable from wall.

The power cable slides off the power supply. Try to get it off without breaking anything.

Then buy a new power cable from Apple:

Power Adapter Extension Cable - Apple (CA)

The little metal button is the guide for sliding it on, look on the part that comes off and you will see.

Ensure that it is not plugged into the wall supply until this is done

I cannot see the cable coming out of plug. Is it damaged or is it just that is is pulled off the metal guide?

Once you remove the cable from the power supply, you will see if anything inside is broken. If nothing is broken you can try sliding it back onto the metal button and it will plug into power supply.
